This study aims to understand the process of self-acceptance in individuals with stuttering and the factors that influence this process. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving two participants with stuttering who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and were subsequently analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that self-acceptance in individuals with stuttering develops through several key themes: awareness of one’s condition, negative emotional responses, experiences of social stigma, social support, and positive self-perception. Both participants experienced feelings of shame, low self-esteem, and anxiety stemming from being mocked and laughed at during social interactions. However, support from family and the immediate environment helped the participants build self-confidence and reduce self-rejection. This study also found that the process of self-acceptance is dynamic and not always linear. Ultimately, both participants began to view their stuttering as an acceptable part of themselves that could be interpreted more positively. The conclusion is that the self-acceptance process in individuals with stuttering disabilities occurs gradually, dynamically, and is influenced by various internal and external factors.
