This study aims to develop an academic burnout measurement instrument based on the burnout theory proposed by Maslach (2017). The study employed a quantitative approach with an instrument development design. The instrument development process involved constructing indicators based on theory, writing items, and conducting a pilot test to evaluate item quality. The sample consisted of 205 university students selected using a convenience sampling technique. Psychometric evaluations included item analysis, reliability testing, and construct validity analysis. The results indicated that the final instrument comprised 16 valid and reliable items. The item-rest correlation values ranged from 0.344 to 0.590, indicating adequate item quality. Reliability testing yielded a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.850, demonstrating very good internal consistency. Furthermore, the construct validity analysis using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) showed that the academic burnout measurement model achieved a good fit after modification (χ² = 130.041; df = 89; p = .003). These findings suggest that the developed academic burnout instrument possesses satisfactory psychometric properties and can be used to assess academic burnout among university students.
